Oral Presentation The 45th Lorne Conference on Protein Structure and Function 2020

Protein Crystallography Workshop - Future Trends in Laboratory Methods (70277)

Vernon Smith 1
  1. Manager Structural Biology, Bruker AXS

This 40 minute workshop will address the use of X-ray techniques in protein structure determination.  This workshop will focus on the use of such techniques in the laboratory environment and aims to provide open discussion of the changing roles and requirements of X-ray instrumentation for screening crystal quality and structure determination.

What are the developing methods and technologies and how are these changing the requirements of laboratory x-ray system?

·         Brighter and smaller beams

·         Development of photon counting CPADs

·         Automation – role in the home lab and workflow continuity with beamlines

·         In situ crystallography

·         Complementarity of X-ray crystallography with developing methods such as XFEL, cryoEM, microED

This workshop is hosted by Bruker AXS, the global leader in the development and manufacture of instrumentation for X-ray diffraction.  This workshop will provide an opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments by Bruker such as the METALJET and IµS DIAMOND X-ray sources, PHOTON III CPAD Detector and automation options including SCOUT and ISX Stage.
